| In October 2002 the Scottish
Chamber Orchestra (SCO), in Partnership with the City
of Edinburgh Council Education Department, announced the
appointment of professional composer Rory Boyle as the
first ever Composer Laureate for Schools.
Aimed primarily at 13 - 18 year olds,
the Composer Laureate for Schools project helps young
musicians get to grips with the basics of composing
their own music, guided by Rory and players from the
world-renowned Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Practical project sessions are open
to teachers and young people from secondary schools
across the City of Edinburgh; but the inspiration, ideas
and resources driving the project are accessible nationally
- free of charge - through this website.
